New U18 Women’s 15s Head Coach and Assistant Coach

January 03, 2025

Rugby Manitoba is excited to announce the appointment of Alix Bellemare as the Head Coach and Brittany Adam as the Assistant Coach for the U18 Women’s Provincial Rugby Team. This dynamic coaching duo brings a wealth of experience and passion for the game, ensuring the continued development and success of our U18 Women's program.

Head Coach: Alix Bellemare

Alix Bellemare has been involved in rugby since 2009, playing at various levels and continuously progressing in the sport. She represented the Provincial U19 team from 2009 to 2011 and is currently a senior women’s provincial player, having been part of the team since 2023. As a dedicated player with the Winnipeg Wasps RFC since 2009, Alix has demonstrated both leadership and commitment on and off the field.

Alix is also a World Rugby Level 1 Referee (2023 – current), expanding her understanding of the game’s rules and principles. In coaching, Alix has earned her World Rugby Level 1 Coach certification and has served as an Assistant Coach for College Beliveau (2013-2015). She is currently an Assistant Coach at St. John’s Ravenscourt, helping to develop the next generation of players.

Fun fact: Alix played the first 12 years of her rugby career strictly as a forward (mostly lock), but now she primarily plays as scrum-half and fly-half! Many of her teammates can’t believe she ever played forward.

Assistant Coach: Brittany Adam

Brittany Adam has been a dedicated rugby player for over 13 years and is deeply involved in the sport across multiple platforms. She plays for the Brumbies, the U of M Herd Rugby Club, and the Senior Women’s Provincial Team. Brittany’s passion for rugby extends beyond playing; she is also a talented coach with experience at the youth and senior levels.

Brittany has served as an assistant coach for high school rugby, and last year, she was an assistant coach for the U18 provincial team. Her coaching experience also includes co-coaching the U of M Herd Rugby Club and head coaching one of the Winnipeg Teams for the Manitoba Games.

With her experience in both playing and coaching, Brittany brings invaluable insight to her role as Assistant/Manager for the U18 Women’s team.

Rugby Manitoba is confident that under the leadership of Alix Bellemare and Brittany Adam, the U18 Women’s team will continue to excel and inspire future generations of rugby players in Manitoba. Please contact Coach Alix at U18F@rugbymb.ca
