Executive Director Transition -

Executive Director Steve Dreger has been with Rugby Manitoba since 2023. During his tenure, Steve successfully led initiatives such as the Manitoba Summer Games, the U17/U19 Prairie Cup, MacDowell Rugby partnership, and secured multiple grants to support Rugby Manitoba programming. Steve has now accepted a new position in sport in the Province, with his last day being Friday, March 28, 2025.

Reflecting on his time with Rugby Manitoba, Steve shared, “It has been an absolute privilege to work with the rugby community in Manitoba. From grassroots development to high-performance programs, I have been inspired by the passion, commitment, and camaraderie of everyone involved. I look forward to seeing the sport continue to thrive in the province.”

We sincerely thank Steve for his contributions and wish him all the best moving forward.

Executive Director (Interim) Appointment

To ensure continuity as we enter the rugby season, the Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Neale Gillespie as Executive Director (Interim), effective April 2, 2025. Neale has taken a leave of absence from his position as Vice-President of the Board to assume this role. With extensive experience in the sport system, Neale is well-positioned to lead Rugby Manitoba through the transition.

“I am humbled and excited for the opportunity to lead Rugby Manitoba through this time of change,” says Neale. “I look forward to continuing the great work being done on the pitch by staff and volunteers in Manitoba, and to growing and strengthening the rugby community through partnership and collaboration at all levels of the game.”

The Board of Directors, in partnership with staff, will take the summer months to evaluate and determine the best organizational structure to align with the strategic plan and future goals of Rugby Manitoba.

Board President Christian Taylor emphasized, “Rugby Manitoba is in a period of growth, and while change always presents challenges, it also brings new opportunities. We are confident in Neale’s leadership and excited to continue building a strong future for rugby in our province.”

We appreciate the continued support of our members and stakeholders during this transition and look forward to another great season of rugby in Manitoba!

Go forward with support!
