Rugby Manitoba Premier Leagues To Kick Off In August
Tentative Start Dates:
Preseason – late July/early August
Regular season – Week of August 9th
The Rugby Manitoba Premier League is the highest standard of club rugby in Manitoba. In 2021, Rugby Manitoba intends to offer two men's premier leagues and one women's premier league. Each league consists of smaller and more balanced competitive divisions to promote meaningful games being played each week. These leagues are for athletes wanting to play competitive rugby with a key focus on improving the standard of rugby across Manitoba.
All games will be recorded, analyzed and posted online for use as a selection tool for Provincial team selectors.
Champions of the top level premier leagues will be eligible for entry into the Canadian Club Rugby Championship qualifiers.
Late July/Early August – Pre Season Competition
Pre-season competition may be restricted to 10s, depending on provincial health orders limiting gathering sizes. Results from this competition will be used to seed each division for the 2021 regular season.
Week of August 9th – 10 Game Regular Season Commencement
In 2021, in an attempt to accommodate a wider range of player ability, dedication levels and to address club difficulty building depth in multiple sides, we will be splitting senior rugby into two categories, competitive (Rugby Manitoba Premier Leagues) and recreational (M-League and W-League)
For clubs interested in entering a team into any of these divisions for the upcoming season, they can contact the Rugby Manitoba office at mru@rugbymb.ca if more information is required.
Any new players who need help finding a team can also contact the Rugby Manitoba office for assistance.
